WHY WE ARE WORKING
SO HARD IN NIGERIA.
One in every five of the world’s out-of-school children is in Nigeria. Even though primary education is officially free and compulsory, about 10.5 million of the country’s children aged 5-14 years are not in school.
In 2020, the prevalence of physical, sexual or emotional violence by a partner was reported to be at 69%. Gender-based violence causes serious short- and long-term physical, mental, sexual and reproductive health problems for women.
Presently, over 50 per cent of Nigeria’s population, which exceeds 200 million people, lacks digital skills and is unable to utilise data services (as indicated in the 2021 World Bank Development Report). This is a staggering reality. Yet, we set projections to achieve 90 or 95 per cent digital literacy by 2030?
